January Slump Remedies

Sunday, 19 January 2014

It is January. Perhaps the most depressing month of the year. Grey clouds, cold weather, no holidays to look forward to and Christmas is long gone. I've got a few tips to make these dull, dark days feel a little brighter.

Bright Nails

I don't know about you but I have been yearning for bright, fun nails. I love a dark, moody nail but it seems like it has been quite some time since I've seen a nice pastel or a bright orange. My recommended polishes are of course the ubiquitous Essie Mint Candy Apple and L'Oreal's ColorRiche in Spicy Orange.

Warming Food Staples

Its still cold so lets embrace the delicious food and drinks on offer. I love soups in winter. They are so warming and delicious and why not attempt to make it yourself so its that little bit healthier. I love a classic minestrone or a simple carrot and honey soup.
As some of you may know, I am a coffee fanatic. Nothing brings a nice warm feeling like coffee. I love a classic plain black americano but when I'm feeling decadent a mocha is my drink of choice.

New Make-Up Launches

With the Revlon Matte Balms, the Nars Matte Multiples and numerous other  make-up launches coming up this Spring, all beauty lovers should be tingling with excitement at just the thought of new products. Snooping around the blog world and seeing the new launches lifts my mood every time.

Go Outside

I always find it so easy to just stay indoors at this time of the year and it gets depressing. However, a nice walk or trip to the shops is always a mood booster. Some nice fresh air, a nosy look around the posh parks and houses in near by neighbourhoods, spotting the first daffodils can be really nice and make you feel less stuck inside.

So there are some ideas to help lift the January blues. Any other tips to lift my spirits at this time of year?
