Nailcare Routine

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

Getting a nail routine that you are happy with can be a laborious process. After years of trying different nail products I've slowly built up a routine that I'm happy with. Here is a step by step walk through of my nail routine.

My usual first step is removing my previous, badly chipped nail polish. I use the Bourjois 1 Second Remover. It's s a great, quick and really easy way to remove nail polish.

Next is cutting and shaping my nails. I;m not a big fan of filing my nails so I use a clippers. I got this one in TK Maxx. It's quite heavy duty but I love it. It cuts the whole nail in on clip and gives me nails a great shape. Then I use this buffer from Boots just to round the edges, even them out and shine them up.

Next for cuticles, I use the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. This is such an effective product. Simply apply some the your cuticles, I leave it for about 30 seconds and then push my cuticles back with a metal cuticle pusher, wash my hands and that's it. I do however only do this about once every two weeks as I don't think it's healthy for my cuticles to continuously be doing this.

My nails break so easy so I use the Sally Hansen Maximum Strength base coat to strengthen them. I also use the Revlon base coat just to make sure my nail polish will stay as long as possible.

I'm in love with nudes right now. I choose this Revlon polish called Grey Suede. It is such a beautiful colour. It has a mix of grey and pink tones with a very slight pearly shine to it. It's become a favourite colour of mine.

Once again, I'm using Revlon again. This time its their top coat. I think this top coat is decent but I personally prefer the Sally Hansen Mega Shine or No Chip top coats.

Finally, to ensure nice soft, mositurised cuticles I am using The Body Shop's Almond Cuticle Oil. I really like this oil as it doesn't have mush of scent and is filled with natural ingredients.

My nail routine has a lot of steps but I find it really enjoyable to do. Have you tried any of these products? let me know your opinions.
