Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

Thursday, 6 March 2014

Alright so I'm late to the reviewing game with this one but when you have a make-up gem I think it's still worth a little blog post about. It's the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and it's a peach!

Bourjois are one of my personal favourite affordable brands. The do nice blushes, a few nice mascaras and some of the best high street foundations out there and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is definitely one of them. Available in Boots for €14.99, it comes in a nice glass bottle with a pump (a asset that is much coveted by a beauty girl).

So what's all the fuss about this foundation? Apart from the purse friendly price, it offers really lovely coverage. It is light feeling yet offers a medium finish that hides imperfections without being cakey. The finish is semi-matte so it gives a subtle glow without being shiny and the no SPF means it looks lovely in photos so is a perfect evening foundation.

Although I hold this foundation in high regard it does have its downsides. First, it has that awful Bourjois fruity smell which just isn't necessary for a foundation but it thankfully quickly fade. Secondly, the shade range although rather good for the pale girls like myself, isn't as kind to darker skinned girls. And finally it claimes to last 16 hours but on me it fades well before that.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum however is one of my favourite foundations, including high and low end. Despite a few flaws its a generally great foundation that I use on a regular basis. Any opinions on this foundation? Let me know in the comments.
