Review: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Saturday, 15 March 2014

Everyone harps on about Bioderma. Although a great little beauty buy, it's quite expensive and ridiculously difficult for most people to get their mitts on. Garnier just entered the market with their version of a micellar cleansing water and I jumped at the chance to buy the stuff, test it out and see if it the affordable cleasning water we've all been hoping for.

Now Garnier aren't the first to enter the Micellar water market to rival Bioderma. La Roche Posey and L'Oreal have both tried to launch their own versions with both products receiving mixed reviews and inevitably not living up to the high standards Bioderma has set. So I was cautiously optimistic when trying the Garnier one out.

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water come in a 400ml bottle that looks remarkably like the Bioderma one. However, the price is where you see a difference at a mere €6.29, it's turns out to be quite an affordable alternative. It claims to be Hypoallergenic, no perfume, suitable for sensitive skin and contains up to 200 uses. These promises all sound amazing to me.

I tried this with a very heavy make-up look. I had a full on smokey eye and lashings of mascara and it did a really great job of removing all of it. Just a couple of swipes over the eye and my make-up was gone. It didn't feel oily at all and wasn't drying, which is a issue I have with many make-up removers. I wouldn't replace it as my only cleanser but for heavy make-up or correcting my crooked winged eye liner it works pretty well, I'm impressed!

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is a real winner for me. Easy to buy, very affordable and very effective at removing stubborn make-up. I'm very happy there is a good Bioderma dupe out there now for the masses to access.
