L'Oreal Color Riche Eye Primer

Thursday, 5 June 2014

I've tried a couple of high-end eye primers but have never ventured into the more affordable brands to get my primer fix. When I spotted the L'Oreal Color Riche Eye Primer I decided to give a high street brands offering a go to see how it lived up to the big guys.

This little pencil is a cream formula that aims to give a more intense colour to eyeshadow. The primer is also a flesh toned colour that aims to cover darkness, veins or any other discoloration on the eye lid and of course being a L'Oreal product its affordable at just under €8.

So how does this compare to high-end alternatives? Well I think pretty well. The formula is easy to apply and provides an even base that conceals my vainy eyelids. It's also long lasting as I swatched it on my hand and found it hard to scrub off. However, it's not without its faults. The packaging isn't my favourite as it gets messy and it can be a little heavy on the lids so apply with a delicate hand.

Having never tried an affordable primer before I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It's by no means the best eye primer ever but it does the job. If your feeling thrifty and want to shun Urban Decay or Nars' eye primer offerings, this may be the one for you. Anyone tried any other affordable eye primers? I'd love some other suggestions.
