Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo

Tuesday, 23 September 2014

Whenever an affordable haircare brand releases a product that is seemly more natural and paraben free, I have to have it. So when I saw Herbal Essences released a new range with a dry shampoo that was paraben free I snapped it up to see how it measured up.

Now dry shampoos need to pass a few tests before they can be considered a good product and the Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo ($3.99) is no exception. The first test is whether it leaves a dreaded white cast. I have dark brown verging on black hair so any white is obvious. To my surprise, this wasn't a problem as the spray was clear so dark haired girls need not worry about using this. Moving on, how did it help my 2 day old hair? Pretty well actually. My hair felt refreshed after and it was no longer a greasy mess . There was no annoying grit either as once sprayed it felt weightless in my hair and left no remnants in my hair.

Well all of this sounds amazing, right? What could possible be wrong? Sadly, its the scent. I think it was meant to be a mint and citrus scent but it was so strong and sweet. I personally dislike scents in my hair particularly when they linger and I could smell this for a long time. Although it mightn't be the biggest problem it still put a dampener on my liking of this product.

If you aren't picky about strong scents, then this might be the dry shampoo for you but I'm left conflicted. I think there are better dry shampoos out there for the similar price and I'll stick with those.
