Barry M Does Contour

Tuesday, 24 March 2015

Contour palettes scare me. I have very fair pale skin (like the palest!) so a contour palette that is probably made only for tanned white girls isn't usually something I would of bought. But look at me! For some reason, I got lured in and I bought myself the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit. So, what did this pasty girl think?

To be honest I don't know what to think about this palette. There are parts I like and parts I don't like. What's really great about this palette is that the powders are really nice quality. They aren't too powdery and actually come across as quite pigmented. The two contouring powders are the real surprise winner for me. I did use a very light hand but I was shocked at how they didn't look too dark on me. And they seemed to actually make my face look kind of sculpted. I do think I would of preferred them to be a little cooler for my skintone but hey, I'm happy they worked at all.

The highlighter shade was what I had a real problem with. Personally, I don't like putting powder in the middle of my forehead as it's where I get the most dry, so I knew this wasn't exactly going to be my kind of thing. Even so, the powder itself was too dark for my skin to really have any brightening qualities. In fact, it was darker most than of my normal setting powders so it just was a bit of a fail for me.

I think it's amazing that an affordable brand has brought out a contour palette that is less than €10. And it is a nice quality palette but I have to say it's not for me. As a pale girl with dry skin, this just isn't a product I particularly care for. It's fun to mess with but I think I'll stick with more cool toned, cream contour products.

Have you tried any contour palettes? Let me know what you think.
