5 Posts That Helped Me With Blogger (& might help you too)

Sunday, 10 May 2015

Even though I work in the tech industry and did some basic html classes in college, I still know nothing about blog design! But I've found to actually build an attractive, working Blogger template, you have to get your hands a little code dirty. Luckily, there are a few lovely bloggers out there sharing snippets of code and teaching blogger know-how to help us blogging philistines out. Here are just a few ones I've used.

Code It Pretty's "A Pinterest Gadget for Blogger"
Surprisingly, Pinterest gadgets aren't as easy to find as you'd think. I assumed they would be just like Instagram but unfortunately they are a bit more work. Code It Pretty (whose blog is a well of valuable blogger information) helpfully did a great walk-through of what you need to do to install a Pinterest gadget. And it looks great!

Having tiny popular post images annoyed me to no end. They are just not inviting and easy to skip over. And when I saw other bloggers with big, beautiful popular posts, I always was envious. Thankfully Holly, whose blog is lovely, wrote this easy to follow step by step post about enlarging images and I'm really happy with the result. I find my posts are much more likely to be clicked and it looks much more attractive.

You know that annoying space between the width of your blog post and the image? Welp, you can fix that! I found out how on I Can Build A Blog (another place to learn so much). It's ridiculously simple and I think makes a blog look so much more clean.

Tagging blog images is such a quick and easy step that really does make a difference to how many people find your blog. Xomisse did a lovely, quick demonstration of how to do this as well as explaining why you need them. Try it out and see the difference!

Another how-to for Pinterest. And this one is putting a Pinterest Pin Button on your blog images. I actually dislike the look of the Pinterest "P" so this one is more attractive and lets your readers Pin your pretty pics and spread the word about your blog.

Hope these helps! What resources do you use to improve your Blogger blog?
