Rimmel's East End Snob review
When it comes to buying products, I'm certainly one for following the crowd. That's the reason why I love beauty blogs. There is usually a collective consensus of whether something is good or bad and then I can make an educated guess whether it's my kind of thing or not. Unfortunately, the system isn't infallible and no matter how much praise something has gotten and research I've done, sometimes a product just isn't right. And that is what happened with the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob.

I've been putting off this review for a couple of months to be honest. I bought this in March and kept trying it out in hope that I could make it work but alas, it hasn't. I'd read so many reviews about how it was a really great lip liner. That it shaped and defined lips with ease, had a natural, nude colouring and that it was a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheats. That all sounds amazing, right? Well for some reason that just didn't happen for me.

When I first applied it to my lips, I was kind of surprised at the colour. It was a lot darker that I had anticipated. I had seen it on so many people looking like a gorgeous natural pink but on me it looked dark and verging on a purple-ish hue that made me look quite dead and drained. It just wasn't the natural lip shade I had hoped for.

Now I'm really pale so that is probably the main factor for it not matching my complexion. That's forgivable as it can't match everyone. However, I didn't like the formula either. It was surprisingly heavy and dense and the texture just wasn't comfortable to wear especially considering I have very dry lips. I even tried to sheer it out but it still felt like there was too much on my lips.

I realise this is a bit of a downer post. But I thought I'd put my two cents out there and give a different opinion on what seems to be a well-liked product. For most this does seem to be a real winner, however if you are pale or have dry lips like me, maybe give this one a miss.

Have you tried this liner? Let me know your thoughts.

  1. I'm so glad someone else also didn't like this! I found it far too drying on my lips which then looked horrible! X
