The Birthday Look

Sunday, 24 May 2015

It's my birthday today! A year has passed. I'm a little older and a little wiser. I'm still rubbish at putting on makeup but hey, I'm having fun! And that is all that matters, right? To celebrate my birthday and the passing of the marriage referendum (Yayy!!!) my bf and I went out for dinner last night. As always I kept my makeup quite simple. I went for ridiculously dewy skin, shimmery eyes and a red lip and I thought I'd talk you through some of the products I used.

Skin wise, I went ultra dewy. I applied the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl as a primer and then put Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Serum on top. I'm actually not as mad about Healthy Mix as everyone else seems to be but I'm trying to use up some of my makeup so I decided to throw that on. As always I chose about five concealers to wear but the main guy was the Clarins Instant Concealer which is just a good all rounder.

I also used my favourite blush and bronzer combo The Body Shop Honey Bronzer and the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink. And finally lots and lots of Illamaqua's Gleam Highlighter in Aurora just to amp up the dewy-ness that little bit more.

On the eyes I pretty much only used the Stila Eyes Are The Window Palette in Spirit. All over the lids, I applied Kitten, which is just shimmery perfectness, with the matte brown shade Puppy in the crease and the shimmery dark brown shade Espresso in the lash line. Then a bit of mascara. I think I used the Maybelline Lash Sensational as well as a couple of individual lashes. And of course, the star of the show is the lipstick and that is courtesy of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It's super matte, lasts a long time and I love the colour.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the products I used. I kind of just piled it on, rushed to take (not such great quality) pics and then ran out the door. Overall, I had a lovely night. Dublin was really buzzing. What a great weekend! Hope you are having a lovely weekend too!
