nars satin lip pencil yu maybelline fuschia desire

I'm not really one for dupes. I find they never truly are dupes and I end up a little disappointed. But on the rare occasion I do find that perfect facsimile. A dupe that is worthy of the dupe title. And this is one of those times. The Maybelline ColorDrama Lipsticks really are the equal to the Nars Satin Lip Pencil and I'm very happy about that!

I'm not going to pretend that I found this dupe. In fact, you are probably reading this, rolling your eyes and thinking "Emma, we know about this already". But sometimes a girl has just got to discover things on her own. Funnily enough, I tried the Maybelline pencils first when they initially came out and liked them but, to be honest, didn't really give them the attention they deserved. It's only after I got really into the Nars pencils that I decided to have another crack at them and it opened my eyes to how great they really are.

In my eyes there is nothing that really separates these lipsticks. Both are really creamy and comfortable on the lips. Both are really easy to apply and have incredibly similar packaging. Both are really pigmented, long-wearing and have the same satin, ever so slightly glossy finish.  And both have annoying messy lids that make me want to rage quit life. To me, they are one and the same.

Shade wise, there are some differences, but you can find some that are almost indistinguishable like Nars' Yu and Maybelline's Fushia Desire. As you can see they are pretty similar with the exception that the Nars' one, which is on the right, is slightly more blue-toned. It is barely noticeable though and I regularly will reapply one on top of the other and never see the difference. In fact, when I'm going out I often apply the Nars first and then pop the Maybelline in my bag for top-ups because I care less about losing that one.

Of course, the one big elephant-sized difference is the price. The Nars is over €20 more expensive than the Maybelline equivalent. Being a crazy Nars lipstick lover though, I'll probably keep buying the Nars as well as the Maybelline as I think the are still an amazing lipstick. For me, it's not one or the other instead it's more the merrier within the lip pencil milleu cos girl likes herself some good lippy, gnome sayin'?
