Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush review shimmering lotus

Issue of Kinfolk? Check. Marble counter? Check. Cactus? Check. My pictures pass the blogger cliché test! Now on with the post. As I mentioned in my Stila lipstick review post a few weeks ago, Stila's summer releases really appealed to me. I thought they all looked beautiful and I bought a few of the products. I think the most exciting new release was the Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush. They are a brand that are famous for their amazing cream blushes and throwing a new blush formula into the mix is very thrilling indeed.

These are kind of an unusual product. It's a liquid blush and there aren't that many of them around. The Daniel Sandler one is the only one that comes to mind for me and I adore that one. The description of this one is really similar to the Daniel Sandler one too. They are both sold as being ultra lightweight, water based blushes that are long-wearing and waterproof. I love the sound of all of that and am so happy Stila are adding to the liquid blush milleu.

I guess what makes this blush stand out and idiosyncratic is the packaging. It comes in a gorgeous little glass jar with a gold lid that is just my taste. But inside is a rather strange dispenser. Stila describes it as an "exclusive netted pot delivery system". Doesn't that sound fancy? As lovely as it looks though it is a little messy and maybe not the most ideal way to package this product.

The packaging is my only bugaboo though. The product itself is a dream. Like other liquid blushes, the texture is really watery and you have to shake it like crazy before use to get all the pigment mixed up. I use my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply and it blends so effortlessly. Because it's a liquid it looks so much more natural than any other blush. It looks beautifully skin-like on the cheeks and feels so weightless too.

Being a boring fuddy-duddy, I probably went for the most unexciting colour in the range, Shimmering Lotus. There are five in total and this one is the most understated. It's your typical peach shade but it does have a tiny bit of gold glitter throughout that is barely noticeable on the skin. As you can see from my swatch though, it is very light and when blended in it's quite transparent, so this particular shade is probably only for the pale girls like me.

The consensus is positive on this one. I think these are a joy and look so subtly flawless. They probably won't be as popular as Stila's Color Converters as they are a bit of a faff to use but if you are a blush lover like me who loves something a little out of the ordinary, then go for it. You won't be disappointed.
