BareMinerals' Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream Review

A few weeks ago I did a post titled "Summertime Bases" and I talked about three really good lightweight bases. I thought having three that I liked was pretty great. I was content with what I had and thought nothing else would really measure up. But... I now see my hubris as I just bought the BareMinerals' Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream and gah!!! It is so good!

When I bought this I had a pretty decent inkling that I would like it. I have read reviews from some trusty bloggers (i.e. Ciara and Beti) so I knew that this base had the cadences of a product I'd love. First, it's got an impressive shade range for a tinted moisturiser. Usually, they are embarrassingly lacking, but this has 10! I, of course, got the lightest shade called 01 Opal because I'm a ghost and it's a great match for me.

The texture of it also reminded me of my beloved Dior Nude BB Creme. It is described as a gel cream, but it is quite mousse like. It is a lot less coverage than the Dior though as this really is a proper tinted moisturiser. It's not going to cover everything, you will need a concealer (well I do anyway) and it's not going to give you a flawless base. What it does do is add the most gorgeous sheer coverage that is so luminous and dewy. It's a perfect healthy, barely there, natural foundation I've found so far.

Interestingly, BareMinerals are also spouting that this has lots of skincare benefits too. They say it's a "Mineral-based formulation that combines the best of a BB, a CC, and a tinted moisturizer to provide increased skin hydration after just one week" and to be honest I can't vouch for that. I'm always a little cynical about some tinted moisturisers skincare claims and I haven't noticed it doing anything magical. It does have SPF 30 though so that's always a bonus skincare wise and I'm just happy it looks nice on the skin. Another note is that I've read a lot of reviews and oily or acne prone girls, seem to really dislike this so it might be one that suits dry skin better.

I'm so fond of this. I'm actually surprised at how much I like it. I'm usually quite picky with foundations and tinted moisturisers, but this one has made me very happy. In fact, I'm going away in a few weeks and I'm thinking about bringing this along as my only base. And that's the ultimate seal of approval!
