The Travel Makeup Bag (or the eternal struggle of trying not to over pack but doing it anyway)

Sunday, 16 August 2015

As you are reading this, I'm in lovely London. I've been before, loved it. I am very excited about going again, Seen as I'm only going for a few days, I seriously tried not to over pack. I was strict and said I would only take one of each product and two lipsticks (and two concealers)... (and 3 bronzing products)... Overall, though I stuck pretty rigidly to my rule and it still seems like far too much slap for one person, but I tried and that's what matters, right? Anyway... let's have a look!

I think for me I wanted to have two looks as an option to wear. The first being a nude look with a bronzey eye and the second is a bright pink lip. I brought the minimal amount of products (kinda) that I needed to make those two looks happen. I only have one lightweight base and that's my newest favourite, the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, to wear for both night and day.

Other face products I brought are the Soap & Glory Solar Powder, the No.7 Instant Radiance Highlighter, and the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink which all can work for both day and night so that cuts down on the amount of products that I had to pack. I think I'm most proud of the small amount of eye products I packed. I have only one shadow from Illasmasqua in the shade Embellish, which is gorgeous and perfect for an all over the lid bronze. And I'll just throw on lot's of the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara to jazz up the look.

And lastly and most fun is the lips. I really hummed and hawed about what to bring. I have a lot of nude lipsticks I've been loving lately, but in the end I went for my beloved Burberry lipstick in English Rose. Burberry is such a British brand so bringing that seemed to be a perfect fit. And for when I'm feeling bright, I have the Bourjois Velvet Rouge in Ole Flamingo. Gosh, I've fallen back in love with this one so much over the past few weeks and I think it's a gorgeous day or night shade.

Of course, that isn't everything I decided to bring, but it's the general gist and I'm happy with what I packed even if it was maybe a little too much. I was more thoughtful than my usual packing excursions and now I'm just very excited for my trip! What do you guys think? Too much or too little makeup for a trip? Let me know.
