6 Features I Love To See In Blog Photography

Not that long ago I did a post titled "6 Types of Blog Posts I Love to Read". For whatever reason, it was rather popular so I thought I'd do another one but this time focusing on photography. Photography is such an important part of blogging and when you find a blog that has their pictures down, it makes you want to stick around like nothing else.

Playing with focus
In case you haven't noticed, I love myself some blur in a picture. It's something I do all the time. Probably a little too much to be honest, but I think it looks great. For me, it's the ultimate cheat, as it looks really artsy and sophisticated even though it's exceptionally easy to do. I'm all for its liberal use in pictures. It's just so darn pretty.

Light, light and more light
I've said it before and I'll say it again light is everything in photography. If I see a photo that is flooded with gorgeous light, I always think it looks a million times better. You don't need a fancy camera, you don't need to know all the tricks, you just need a bright room and a liberal hand on turning up brightness in photoshop and it works a treat.

Props galore
Props are a great way to add some extra juice into your pictures. I love using some of my prettier products, random trinkets from around my flat, magazines and whatever else I can get my paws on. It's a simple way to make your pictures more interesting and attractive.

I love when I see a picture and can say I know which blog it's from. I get that with ma' girls Bloomin' Rouge, By Her Mirror and Tamira Jarrel. It's all about being repetitive with lighting, editing and the general style of your photos. I'm still working on this myself, but when someone always has beautiful, stylistically similar pictures that flow together, I'm always impressed.

I'm no expert in photo editing. I'm pretty much a newbie, but I usually do a few things to my photos to make sure they are looking their best. And I appreciate when other bloggers do these too. Adding filters, erasing little black smudges from white backgrounds and doing anything possible to make your images crisp and clean, these little tweaks, although not that noticeable, do make images look a whole lot better.

Multiple photos
Something I often fail at doing is taking multiple photos for a post. I always get stressed and once I have one decent image I rage quit taking any more for the day. However, I love seeing lots of pictures in other bloggers posts. It gives me a much better feel for the products you are writing about, it breaks up big chunks of text and most importantly I get to drool over pretty, pretty things.

Let me know your thoughts? What makes a blog's photography pop to you?
