Better Late Than Never - Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

Wednesday, 23 December 2015

Some products are permanent fixtures on the "to buy" list. You know they are great, you know you want them, you've swatched them a hundred times, but for some reason, they never actually end up in your shopping basket. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders were one of those products for me. A mystical beaut that I wanted, but probably would never buy. So when my boyfriend bought one for me as an early Christmas present (thanks Chuck!) I was very excited indeed.

Now writing a review for these powders is probably pointless because any beauty lover worth their salt knows how highly coveted these powders are. But girls gotta do it anyway because look how pretty! By request, I got the shade Diffused Light, a pale yellow that "conceals redness and gives skin clarity—like a soft ray of morning light." Fancy, eh?

As expected, this powder is beautiful. It's so soft and creamy to the touch and just feels dreamy. I wanted this one as I thought the yellow tone might work for setting my under eye concealer and generally brighten up that area and it is working well. It has the perfect balance of being slightly glowy and iridescent, but not too shimmery that it looks like too much for under my eyes. It's also not heavy or detectable either. As I wear a lot of concealer I do run the risk of that area looking cakey and heavy, but it's never the case with this powder. It's light, glowy goodness.

To be honest, I don't have much else to say about this powder. It is kind of difficult to pinpoint and write about why this powder is so nice. It just is. Sure it's expensive and sure it's probably not an essential product, but it feels and looks so lovely. I guess I'm officially an Hourglass fangirl now!
