Got Myself Some NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Oh Yeah!

Tuesday, 8 December 2015

Liquid lipsticks changed my lip game. Before they came along, I really struggled to find bold lipsticks that worked for me and now I can't stop buying them. Unfortunately, liquid lipsticks aren't as ubiquitous here as they are in other parts of the world so when I hear about a good one that is widely available I tend to scoop it up. And that's where Lily's post comes in. She mentioned a few weeks ago that little ol' NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams were her favourite. Well, you can guess what happened next...

With liquid lipsticks, I tend to favour two colours, red and pink. And they are the exact shades I decided to go for this time too. Monte Carlo is your typical bright red and Prague is a pink. However, it's a very dark, moody pink with a very slight purplish tinge, which is unlike anything I have and that makes me super excited.

I first tried Prague and loved it. The initial thumbs up for me was that it smells like vanilla, my preferred lip fragrance of choice. It has a typical doe foot applicator that is really easy to use. With some patience, you can get a really crisp defined lipline without a lip liner, which I am always a fan of. The colour was effortlessly opaque too. Just a couple of swishes back and forth across my lips and it looked pretty kick-ass, if I do say so myself.

It also sets to a perfect matte too. It's not one that instantly drys on your lips meaning you get some play time, but it also doesn't have any shine either when it does set. It's just how I like my liquid lipsticks. I will say that lasting time is decent, but nothing to boast about. I think I had it on for about 2 hours before I started seeing the beginnings of some fading and I did reapply after a few hours just to freshen it up. Also I must say that after wearing it for a long time, it did dry out my lips a little. It wasn't unbearable, but lip balm was definitely needed after.

Slight niggles aside, I really like the shade Prague and thought it was a really worthy addition to my liquid lipstick collection. The red, Monte Carlo, on the other hand, was a bit more uncertain for me. I found the colour was a bit meh and it was a bit more watery in consistency. Even while swatching it, I had to build up the colour quite a bit before it really showed through. When I did wear it, I must say it does look nice, but I just have better, more special reds that I'd pick over this one.

So if you are a liquid lipstick lover, I would for sure recommend these. Sure, the shade range might be a little hit and miss and I don't think they are the best liquid lipsticks ever, but they are pretty damn good in my opinion. Oh, and they are like 6 bucks so what's there to complain about really, eh?!

Peeps, have you tried these? What did you think?
