Catrice Glam & Doll Curl & Volume Mascara review, emma and the beauty blog

Loyal readers (all two of you), will probably remember that before Christmas I discovered the joys of Catrice mascaras. In particular, it was the Glam & Doll Volume Mascara Waterproof that had my heart. It was separating, lengthening and tremendously inexpensive. So when I went back to restock, I noticed that Catrice had a number of other mascaras in the same collection and I decided to go crazy and try another one from the range.

This time, I decided to go with the Glam & Doll Curl & Volume Mascara. Being someone who seriously covets a curl, it sounded like a mascara that might work for me. I also usually pick lengthening mascaras over ones that add volume, but I know the last Catrice mascara from this range was very lengthening so I hoped this would be the same.

When it comes to mascara, it's all about the wand and this one's wand is a little funky. It is an oversized, curved fibre brush that is meant to grip and coat every lash, while providing a lasting curl. In my eyes, it reminded me of the Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara, which I really liked, but of course is a heck of a lot more expensive.

Formula wise, I found it coated my lashes with aplomb and made them look both lengthened and volumised. I must say I don't think it curled them amazingly well. I still need to use my curlers, but it certainly made my lashes look great. I love that the formula was quite dry. I have a passionate dislike for wet mascaras so that was a big plus in my book. I also loved that it didn't smudge or flake. Sometimes that can be a struggle with non-waterproof mascaras, but this one was standing strong at the end of the day.

Overall, I do think I prefer the original one I tried, but the Volume & Curl one is no loser. It works a treat and it's cheap as chips. Long, volumised lash lovers (which is pretty much everyone, right?) should certainly check this one out. It's a gem!
