Illamasqua essential brush set review, emma and the beauty blog

For the last 6 months, I had a fixation. Whenever I had the opportunity, I would be Googling, gazing and craving Illamasqua’s brushes. I wanted them badly. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and buy these beautiful bad boys. I got the Essential Brush Set and my word, they are stunners.

The Essential Brush Set comes with five brushes – the round buffing brush, the blending brush, the eyeshadow brush, the angled brush and the lip brush with cover. And what I like about them is that they aren’t just repeats of brushes I already have. They all have a slight unique twist.

Of the five brushes, I have a couple of favourites. The round buffing brush makes applying highlighter and setting under eyes a dream and the blending brush works amazingly well for more precise blending as it’s quite thin. And for someone like me who isn’t the best at blending, I find it really helps get a defined, yet diffused crease.

Being Illamasqua, all of the brushes are synthetic, hypoallergenic and cruelty-free. Of course, being synthetic has it's pros and cons. They aren't the softest brushes in the world (although they are still soft), but they wash remarkably well. And they can be used with both cream and powder which is always a big win for me.

If you are looking for some brushes to add to your collection, these are ones I'd highly recommend. They are a little up there in price and they aren't a brush set I'd suggest for beginners, but for girls who have a great core collection and want to add some beautiful, high quality and unique brushes to your repertoire, these are the ones to get.
