Bitch Sesh - Let's Chat About Some Disappointing Products

In all my blogging years, I don't think I've ever done a disappointing products post. Now it's not because of that ol' "I don't like to be negative" excuse because I love to nag and winge about crappy products, but rather I just never got round to doing one. Times are about to change, though. I've searched through my makeup drawers, found some products that quite frankly suck and I'm going to name and shame them today.

Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm and Beauty Sleep Cream
Pixi is a brand I once held in high regard, but I have to admit my feelings for them have gone from love to meh as I've recently tried a few duds from the range. First, is the Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm. This is a product that when I first tried, I thought it was okay, but the more I used it, the more I began to loath it. Unlike other balm cleansers I've tried, it is very thick and paste like and once you apply it to your face, it doesn't emulsify properly making it a pain to remove. On top of this, it doesn't get my face as clean as I would like so I'm not a fan.

Bought at the same time as the cleanser, the Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream is, unfortunately, another flop. The name, to me, suggests a heavy, luxurious, moisturising night cream, but it isn't. It's very light and not very nourishing at all. I felt like it did absolutely nothing for my skin.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella
Before I was cruelty-free, Stila was one of my favourite brands and last summer I was very excited to try their liquid lipsticks. The colour of this lipstick, Bella, is gorgeously vibrant. I love it and I know a lot of people love this formula, however, when I wear it, it turns into a bit of a disaster. Within seconds of applying it, it goes dry, crumbly and looks a mess. Not only does it look bad on my lips, it doesn't last particularly long either. It is a product I expected so much from and it failed pretty much every liquid lipstick rule I have which makes me a little sad.

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer
As a lover of heavier concealers, I was chomping at the bit to try the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer. I'd heard great things and it really sounded like a product I'd get one with. Unfortunately, I don't. It is by no means a terrible concealer, but the coverage just isn't where I would like it to be. I also find it is quite drying and on days when I wear this, I feel like I never have an amazing makeup day. To add salt to my wounds, I paid a particularly hefty price for this one to be shipped making it an extra disappointing product.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Face Gel
I love the original Honey Bronzer powder. It's one of my favourite bronzers and as a pale girl, it opened my eyes to the joys of bronzing. The Honey Bronze Face Gel, on the other hand, is a bit of a lemon. The colour, application and look of this facial tanner works amazingly well for me. The problem lies with how it sits with other products. For some reason, with some cream, oilier or watery products, it gets easily disturbed on the skin and starts to move and bunch up into flaky brown patches. I find that I feel slightly self-conscious wearing this as I'm always worried that it may have reacted with my other makeup and to me, that is not a fun feeling.

Soap & Glory Drama Clean 5-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water
Finding a decent cruelty-free micellar water is a difficult task and when Soap & Glory released their own I was ecstatic. I rushed out and immediately bought it and am sad to say I have a few grips with this one. Personally, the smell isn't my cup of tea. It is a bad cucumber scent which I think is really unnecessary. It also doesn't do an amazing job at removing makeup compared to other micellar waters I've tried. My biggest bugbear, though, is the taste. I mainly use micellar water to remove lipsticks and this one is ruined by the most revolting chemical taste. It is really unpleasant to use makes removing lipstick a dreaded moment.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?
